How can we help you?
Application: Mail Desktop version

You can delete some folders in the application, but there are some folders that cannot be deleted because they are system folders.

Folders that can be deleted:

Custom folders — folders created manually by you (for example, folders for sorting emails) can be deleted without affecting the program's operation. When deleting such a folder, all e-mails contained in it will also be deleted if they are not stored anywhere else.

saved searches — created for displaying e-mails according to certain criteria. Deleting such a folder will not affect the actual original e-mails, as saved searches only display links to these e-mails.

Folders that cannot be deleted:

System folders — folders automatically created by an application or your mail server are basic (system) folders and cannot be deleted. These folders include: Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Archives, Trash, Junk.

IMAP mail server system folders. If the account is connected using the IMAP protocol, folders created or synchronized with the server can also not always be deleted if they are considered system folders by the mail provider.

If you want to reduce the number of folders, you can hide or unsubscribe some folders so that they do not appear in the Folder Pane. This does not delete them, but makes them inaccessible in the application.

To delete a folder and all its contents:

1.On the Mail tab, on the Folder Pane, from the context menu of the unwanted folder, select Delete or select the folder and press Del.

2.Confirm the deletion.

The folder and its contents will be moved to the Trash folder. If you then clear the Trash folder (see below), the data is permanently deleted.

Restore a deleted folder

To restore a deleted folder:

1.In the Folder Pane, in the Trash folder, from the context menu of the desired folder, select Move To.

2.Select the folder to which you want to restore the deleted folder.

The folder and its contents will be returned to the mailbox.

Empty the Trash folder

To delete all folders and messages from the Trash folder, use one of the methods:

Fromthe folder context menu, select Empty Deleted.

psn-ug-folder-deleted

From the Main Menu, select File > Empty Deleted.

All folders and messages will be deleted from the Trash folder. The possibility of data recovery depends on the mail server.

You can delete folders individually from the Trash folder via the context menu of the corresponding folder.
