How can we help you?
Application: Mail Desktop version

You can view the properties of individual mail folders and customize their settings for various purposes, such as changing the name, specifying synchronization options, and selecting storage options.

To view and customize the properties of a folder:

1.On the Mail tab, on the Folder Pane, from the context menu of the desired folder, select Properties. The Folder Properties window will open.

psn-ug-folder-properties

2.Review and, if possible, modify the folder's general data on the General Information tab:

Name: folder name. If it is a system folder, such as Inbox, you cannot change the folder name.

Icon Colour: The color of the folder icon displayed in the Folder Pane.

Location: The address of the folder on the server (if your account is connected to a server) or on your device (if it is a local folder).

Number of messages and Size on disk: the number of messages in the folder and the space it takes up on disk.

Include messages in this folder in Global Search results: enable indexing the contents of this folder for searches.

When getting new messages for this account, always check this folder: enable checking the folder for new messages each time the mail client synchronizes the account (for example, when connecting to a server or checking mail periodically).

Repair Folder: restore the folder to working properly if it has errors or problems displaying messages.

3.Change the storage settings on the Retention Policy tab:

Use my account settings: check the box if the folder should use the shared storage settings for the account. Uncheck the box to customize the settings below.

Define one of the options for automatically deleting messages from the folder: Don't delete any messages, Delete all but the most recent N messages, or Delete messages more than N days old.

If necessary, select the Always keep flagged messages check box.

4.If the folder is on an IMAP server, review and change the folder settings on the following tabs:

Synchronisation: you can Select this folder for offline use and Download Now messages from the folder from the server to your device.

Sharing: If the server supports shared folders, you can configure permissions for the folder. If the server does not support this feature, there will be no settings on the tab.

Quota: If the server supports quotas, you can view how much space the folder occupies on the server and how much is available. If the server does not support quotas, you will not see this information on the tab.

5.Click OK to save the settings.

The changes will take effect immediately or after the next time the folder is synchronized with the server (depending on the type of change).

If your account is connected via IMAP, folders are synchronized with the server and most changes made in the application (such as renaming or moving folders) are also updated on the server side. You are advised to be careful and make sure that the server is enabled to support such operations to avoid data loss.
