How can we help you?

You can add nested tables to table cells. Nesting can be multi-level.

nested_table

To insert a nested table into a table cell, use one of the following methods:

If the cell is empty, place the cursor in it. To do this, select it with two mouse clicks or press F2 (Fn+F2 when working on a laptop). Follow the steps to insert the table.

If the cell contains text to be placed in a nested table, follow the steps to convert that text to a nested one.

If the nested table is empty (no text, objects, empty paragraphs) and you want to add an empty paragraph:

Place the cursor at the beginning of the row of the upper-left cell of the nested table.

Press Enter.

Working with a nested table is similar to working with a parent table.

Formatting settings applied to a nested table do not apply to the parent table. For example, alignment, cell fill, border settings.

The height or width of a cell in the parent table can be less than the height or width of the nested table. In this case, a part of the nested table is hidden under the parent table cell on the right or below. When you resize a cell of the parent table, the size of the nested table is preserved.

You can copy and paste nested tables into other table cells or into the document text using standard methods. You can copy and paste both parts of nested tables and the entire nested tables.

The following limitations currently apply:

For nested tables, repeating the header on each page and text wrap settings are not available.

If the clipboard contains a table to be inserted as a nested table and the user selects several cells in the parent table, the table from the clipboard is inserted not as a nested table, but as part of the parent table.
