Delete text using the command

To delete text, follow the steps below:

1.Select the desired part of the text to be deleted.

2.On the Home tab, in the Edit group, click t_edit_delete Delete. When working in macOS, run the Edit > Delete command from the command menu.

Delete text using the keyboard keys

To remove one or more characters from the text, use one of the following methods:

Place the cursor after the characters you want to delete. Delete characters by successively pressing Backspace (Windows, Linux) or Delete (macOS).

Place the cursor before the characters you want to delete. Delete characters by successively pressing Delete (Windows, Linux) or Fn+Delete (macOS).

To delete a part of a word or a word, use one of the following methods:

Place the cursor after a word or word part that you want to delete. Press Ctrl+Backspace (Windows, Linux), command Cmd+Delete or alt Option+Delete (macOS).

Place the cursor before a word or word part that you want to delete. Press Ctrl+Delete (Windows, Linux), command Cmd+Fn+Delete or alt Option+Fn+Delete (macOS).

To delete a text fragment, follow these steps:

1.Select the required fragment.

2.Press Delete or Backspace (Windows, Linux), Delete or Fn+Delete (macOS).
