PI

The PI function returns the number π (Pi) accurate to 10 digits after the decimal point: 3.1415926536.

This function can be useful in various calculations related to geometry, trigonometry, and other areas of mathematics.

The PI function does not accept arguments and simply returns the value π.

Examples of use

Calculating the area of a circle

If you have the radius of a circle in cell A1, you can calculate the area of the circle using the following formula:

=PI()*(A1^2)

The function will return the area of the circle.

Calculating the circumference

To calculate the circumference of a circle with the radius recorded in cell A1, use the formula:

=2*PI()*A1

The function will return the circumference with a radius equal to the value in cell A1.

Use in trigonometry

You can use the PI function to work with angles in radians.

For example, to find the sine of 90 degrees (π/2 radians):

=SIN(PI()/2)

Result: 1.

Notes

To increase the accuracy of calculations, use this function instead of manually entering the number 3.14.
