Change image position in text

You can change the position of the image relative to the main text of the document. For example, the image can be placed in line with text, in front of text, or behind text.

By default, the image is positioned as In line with text. To change its position, follow these steps:

1.Select the image. If you want to select an image that is in Behind text position, hover your mouse over it and click the button that appears.

2.Open the list of possible image positions in one of the following ways:

•On the Home tab, in the Image group, click the button with the current image position.

•Open the context menu by right-clicking and select the Wrap text command.

•When working in macOS, run the Format > Image > Wrap text command from the command menu.

3.Select the desired position of the image relative to the text:

•In line with text: The image is part of the text as a word or punctuation mark.

•Square: The text wraps the rectangular frame in which the image is placed.

•Top and bottom: The text is placed below and above the image.

•In front of text: The image is placed in front of the text as the top layer.

•Behind text: The image is placed behind the text as the bottom layer.

For the images positioned as In line with text, you can apply horizontal alignment (place on the left, right, or center of the page). If the image is not separated from the text by paragraph indents, the selected alignment is also applied to the text in the same paragraph as the image.
