MyOffice Text allows you to work with templates in .ott (Windows and Linux only), .xott and .dotx formats.
Templates can be used in the following ways:
•In Windows and Linux, you can configure automatic selection of a single template for all documents created in MyOffice Text. To do this, the template needs to be placed in the MyOffice Standard. Home Edition installation folder.
•You can select templates when creating documents manually in all supported operating systems. In this case, you can use an unlimited number of templates located in any folders on the current computer.
Configuring automatic template selection in Windows and Linux does not preclude you from manually selecting a template.
Templates in .ott format can only be used as auto-selected templates.
To manually create a template-based file in .xott format, use one of the following methods: •In the file manager, double-click the template with the left mouse button. Some Linux operating systems require a single left-click. •Open MyOffice Text and, in the File menu, select New from Template. In the file manager window that opens, select the template on the basis of which you want to create a file and click Open. •Open MyOffice Text and drag the template or its shortcut from the operating system file manager window to the open application window. To manually create a template-based file in .dotx format, use one of the following methods: •If MyOffice Text is selected as the default application to open .dotx files, double left-click the template in the file manager. Some Linux operating systems require a single left-click. •In the file manager, right-click the template. When working in Linux, run Open in MyOffice Text / Open with MyOffice Text context menu option. When you work in Windows, run Open with command from the context menu. When working in macOS, run Open with command and select MyOffice Text in the displayed list of applications. •Open MyOffice Text and, in the File menu, select New from Template. In the file manager window that opens, select the template on the basis of which you want to create a file and click Open. •Open MyOffice Text and drag the template or its shortcut from the operating system file manager window to the open application window. The document created on the basis of the selected template will open. |
If automatic template selection is configured for the application, all new documents are created based on this template. If automatic template selection is not configured, all documents are created based on the embedded template. Configuration requires OS administrator rights.
To configure automatic template selection, follow the steps below: 1.Go to the MyOffice Standard. Home Edition installation folder. 2.Place the template based on which you want to create documents in the Default Template folder. You can save several different templates in the Default Template folder. In this case, only one template of a suitable format will be used for the MyOffice Text application following first in the list. If the application cannot open the template, a new document is created based on the embedded template. The reasons may be as follows: •The template is not saved in the folder or is corrupted. •The template file format is not supported. •The “Hidden” attribute is set for the template in Windows. •The template is password protected in Linux. If a template file is corrupted, a banner with a corresponding notification is displayed in the document created on its basis. Please note the following specifics when working with templates: •If MyOffice Standard. Home Edition is installed in a user's private folder, other users can only manage templates if they have permissions to run or read files in that folder. •Templates that are large in size with many links can affect the application's performance. •When you update or recover MyOffice Standard. Home Edition, manually created templates are not deleted from the system. When MyOffice Standard. Home Edition is deleted, all downloaded templates are removed from the system. The access to manually created templates is blocked by default for other system users in the Alt Workstation 10 OS. If necessary, you can add additional access rights for other users to all templates or for a specific template using the following command:
Example: 1.Go to the Default Template directory and run the command:
2.To verify that the permissions have changed, run the command:
All the other Linux systems set full permissions by default, but can also be manually configured. |
