You can create bulleted and numbered lists, manage their nesting levels and continue numbering. In bulleted lists each item is marked with a symbol (marker), in numbered lists — with a number or letter.
The list and indentation buttons are located on the Home tab, in the Paragraph group.
There are several ways to create a list.
Automatically create a list as you type
1.At the beginning of a line, type one of the characters:
•For a bulleted list: * or -.
•For a numbered list: 1., 1), a., a), A., I.
2.Press Space or Tab.
Create a list using the toolbar
1.Select the text you want to convert to a list, or place the cursor on a new line.
2.Click Bulleted list or
Numbered list.
3.If you want to select a specific marker style or number format, click the arrow to the right of the corresponding button and select the appropriate option.
Paste copied list
For the list to be pasted correctly, when copying, make sure that the paragraph character (¶) after the last item is selected. For this purpose, it is recommended to enable the display of non-printable characters.
Manage nesting levels
Any list can have multiple levels of nesting.
To increase the indentation (create a sub-level):
1.Position the cursor at the beginning of a list item.
2.Press the Tab key or click Increase indent.
To decrease the indentation (go back a level higher):
1.Position the cursor at the beginning of the list item.
2.Press the Backspace key or click Decrease indent.
If the list is within a table, the Tab key will move the cursor between cells. To change the level of the list in the table, use the Increase indent and
Decrease indent buttons.
List templates support different marker and numbering styles for different levels (usually up to three). On the fourth and subsequent levels, the design is repeated. The exception is the first numbered list template, which supports up to nine levels of nesting.
Continue numbering
To continue numbering an existing list, use one of the following methods:
–Place the cursor where you want the list to continue, type the next sequential number, and press Space.
–Create a new numbered list (see above), then right-click the number of the first item and select Continue numbering from the context menu.
The editor will automatically continue numbering the closest list above.
Convert a list to plain text
To clear the formatting of the list:
1.Select the desired items in the list.
2.Click the arrow next to the active list type button.
3.In the menu that opens, select the None option.
