Formatting (font, color, size, paragraph alignment, etc.) can be quickly copied from one part of a document and applied to another. The copied formatting can also be pasted into other applications.
Tools
You can use the Copy formatting and
Clear tools on the Home tab, in the Edit group.
What formatting can be copied
–Formatting of the cell contents (font, size, text color, etc.).
–Formatting of the cell itself (alignment, fill color, borders, etc.).
Preparing the content
Before using the tool, determine what you want to copy:
–To copy content formatting, select the desired piece of text in the cell editing mode or place the cursor in it.
–To copy cell formatting, select the cell itself.
Copy formatting using hotkeys
1.Copy formatting:
a.Select the text or cell with the desired formatting.
b.Press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+C (Cmd+Shift+C).
2.Apply the formatting:
a.Select the content to which you want to apply the style.
b.Press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+V (Cmd+Shift+V).
Copy formatting with the button
1.Copy formatting:
a.Select the text or cell with the desired formatting.
b.Click the Copy formatting button. The cursor will take on the appearance of a brush.
2.Apply formatting:
a.Select the text, cell, or multiple cells to which you want to apply the style. The formatting will be applied immediately.
b.To exit the apply mode, press the Esc key or click Copy formatting again.
If you want to apply the formatting to several non-contiguous fragments, double-click the Copy formatting button — it will remain active and you can apply the style to any cells or ranges sequentially. To exit the mode, click the button again or press Esc.
Clear formatting
1.Select a cell or multiple cells.
2.Use one of the following methods:
•Click the Clear button and select Clear formatting.
•Press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Space (Cmd+Space).
