To create a rule of the Icons type for a range of cells, follow these steps:
1.Select the range of cells for which you want to create a rule.
2.Open the Create formatting rule window in one of the following ways:
•On the Home tab, in the Data group, click the arrow to the right of the
Create formatting rule button and select Icons command from the drop-down list.
•On the Data tab, click the arrow to the right of the
Conditional formatting button and select Icons from the drop-down menu.
•Right-click any cell in the selected range and select Create formatting rule > Icons from the context menu.
3.In the Create formatting rule window:
•The address of the previously selected range is entered in the Apply to range box. If necessary, you can edit the address. To do this, enter it manually in the box, or click
Select values, select the range in the document, and then click again to insert the address into the box.
•In the Icons pane on the left side of the window, select a set of icons.
•Select the Show only the icon in the cell checkbox if you want to display only the icon, hiding the values contained in the cells.
•Select the Use icons in reverse order checkbox if you want to change the order of icons in the threshold block from forward to reverse order.
•In the Threshold values drop-down list, select the method for determining threshold values.
•For each threshold value in the Values drop-down list, select a condition option (Less than or Less than or equal to). Enter a value, formula, or cell address in the adjacent box. For some methods, you can adjust the value in the input box using the arrows. For the Formula results method, you can select cells with values/formulas using the
Select values button.
