Autosum

The Autosum operation allows you to quickly apply one of five popular functions: SUM, MIN, MAX, AVERAGE, COUNT. The system automatically recognizes the range of cells with numeric data and substitutes it into the function.

Select the data to be calculated

To calculate the sum for a column, select an empty cell below it. The result will be pasted into that cell.

To calculate the sum for a row, select the empty cell to its right.

Select a column, row, or range of cells in its entirety. The result will be pasted into the nearest empty cell next to the range.

Perform autosum

1.Select a cell, column, row, or range of cells with data.

2.Invoke the Autosum operation in one of the following ways:

On the Data tab, click the Autosum button.

Click the Sigma Autosum button in the formula bar.

Press the Alt+= (Option+=) keyboard shortcut.

Autosum features

When you invoke an operation by pressing the Sigma Autosum button or keyboard shortcut, only the AMOUNT feature will be applied. To select other features (MIN, MAX, etc.), use the button menu by pressing the arrow ChevronDownSmall.

Only visible cells of the selected range are involved in the calculation.

The maximum number of arguments when using Autosum is 255.
