If you want to limit the access to a document, you can protect it with a password. Users will be requested to enter the password when opening the document.

Note:

When exporting a file, the password is automatically deleted.

Password-protected documents are not supported in the Cloud.

If a document is password-protected in a third-party application, it will be processed in the same way as a password-protected document in MyOffice Spreadsheet.

Set a password

1.Open the document you want to protect with a password.

2.In the File menu, click Set Password.

3.In the Set Password window that appears, enter the password in the Password box and confirm it.

For security reasons, the password entered is displayed as markers. To display the password, click show_password_gray in the right end of the input box.

4.Click OK.

Once the data entered has been successfully verified, you will be notified correspondingly. Save the document to apply changes.

The next time the document is opened, you'll be asked to enter the password.

Change a password

To change a password in a password-protected document:

1.Open the document that you want to change the password for.

2.In the File menu, click Manage Password.

3.In the Manage Password pop-up window that appears, click Change Password.

4.In the Change Password pop-up window that appears, enter the current password, a new password, and confirm the new password.

For security reasons, the password entered is displayed as markers. To display the password, click show_password_gray in the right end of the input box.

5.Click Done.

Once the data entered has been successfully verified, you will be notified correspondingly. Save the document to apply the changes.

Remove a password

1.Open the document that you want to remove the password from.

2.In the File menu, click Manage Password.

3.In the Manage Password pop-up window that appears, click Remove Password.

4.In the Remove Password pop-up window that appears, enter the current password and click Done.

Open a password-protected document

When you open a password-protected document, a window for entering the password will appear on the screen. Enter the password and click OK.

If the password is correct, the document will open in MyOffice Spreadsheet.

If you enter a wrong password, you'll get a “The password is incorrect” notification. Click show_password to display the password you've entered and check it carefully. Try again.

The number of attempts to enter a password for opening a document is not limited.
