To delete a single column or row, follow the steps below:
1.Select the column or row to delete in one of the following ways:
•Select this column or row, or a range of cells in this column or row.
•Place the cursor in a cell or select a cell in that column or row.
2.Delete a column or row using one of the following methods:
•On the Home tab, in the Table group, click the
Delete cell, column, or row drop-down menu button and select
Delete column or
Delete row.
•Right-click to open the context menu and run the Delete column or Delete row command.
•When working in macOS, run the Format > Table > Delete column or Delete row command from the command menu.
•Press Ctrl+Alt+U (Windows, Linux) or ⌥Option+⌘Cmd+U (macOS) to delete the column. Press Ctrl+Alt+R (Windows, Linux) or ⌥Option+⌘Cmd+R (macOS) to delete the row.
To delete multiple columns or rows, follow these steps:
1.Select these columns or rows, or cells located in them.
2.Delete columns or rows using one of the following methods:
•On the Home tab, in the Table group, click the
Delete cell, column, or row drop-down menu button and select
Delete columns or
Delete rows.
•Right-click anywhere in the selected range and run Delete rows / Delete columns command from the context menu.
•When working in macOS, run the Format > Table > Delete columns or Delete rows command from the command menu.
•Press Ctrl+Alt+U (Windows, Linux) or ⌥Option+⌘Cmd+U (macOS) to delete columns. Press Ctrl+Alt+R (Windows, Linux) or ⌥Option+⌘Cmd+R (macOS) to delete rows.
To quickly delete one or several columns or rows, follow these steps:
1.Select these columns or rows in their entirety.
2.Press Ctrl+– (Windows, Linux) or ⌘Cmd+– (macOS).
