To open a file using the file explorer, use one of the following methods:
•If MyOffice Text is the default application to open files of the appropriate format, double-click the file with the left mouse button. Some Linux operating systems require a single left-click to open a file.
•Right-click the file. When working in Linux, run Open in MyOffice Text / Open with MyOffice Text context menu option. When you work in Windows, run Open with command from the context menu. When working in macOS, run Open with command and select MyOffice Text in the displayed list of applications.
To open a file while working in the application:
1.Run the Open command in one of the following ways:
•Click the button and run the Open command from the main menu.
•When working in macOS, run File > Open command from the command menu.
•Press Ctrl+O (Windows, Linux) or Cmd+O (macOS).
2.In the file manager window that appears, select the desired file and click Open.
When working in the application, you can also drag a document or its shortcut from the file explorer window to an open application window. You can drag and drop to open up to 32 files at a time.
When you open a file in .doc format, it is automatically converted to .docx format. An information bar will be displayed below the Toolbar with an appropriate notification: “Document was automatically converted to a newer format”. Click OK in this line. To save a file in .docx format, follow the steps described in the Save a file section. Working with files in .doc format is not supported on macOS.

If the Read-only property is set for a file by the OS tools, then: •This file is opened in the view mode. •A notification “The document is view-only” is displayed on the Toolbar. The exception are files in .doc and .docm formats and files handled via WebDAV protocol.
In the view mode, you cannot make changes to the document or change its formatting. If necessary, you can create a copy of this document that can be edited. To do this, click Edit a copy on the Toolbar. A copy of the document will open in a new application window. To save the file copy, follow the steps described in the Save a file section. |
When you try to open a file that is being edited in another application or by another user, the Open file dialog box is displayed, allowing you to select the file mode or close the file. The exception is files in .doc and .docm formats.
Open a file in view mode To open a file in the view mode, in the Open file dialog box, click Open to view. In the view mode, you cannot make changes to the document or change its formatting. Open a file in edit mode If you are sure that the file is not opened in another program or by another user and is locked by mistake, click Edit in the Open file dialog box. The file will open in edit mode. Make the required changes. When saving changes, the application will check that no other users have made edits to the file while it was open. If there are no edits, the changes will be saved in the current document. If there are edits, the application will prompt you to choose one of the following actions: ignore the other user's edits, create a copy of the document, or finish working with the document without saving the changes. If you are not sure that the file is not open in another program or by another user, in the Open file dialog box, click Open to view. The document will open in the view mode. To switch to edit mode, do one of the following: •Finish working with the document in another application or ask another user to close the document. Then, in MyOffice Text, click Check availability on the Toolbar. If the document is still being worked on, the “Document is still in use” pop-up message will be displayed. If the work is completed, the document will switch to edit mode. •Create an editable copy of the document. To do this, in MyOffice Text, on the Toolbar, click Edit a copy. A copy of the document will open in a new application window. Close a file To close the file, in the Open file dialog box, click Cancel. |
