It may happen that you need to have several objects on a slide to overlap or partially overlap each other. In this case, each object should have a certain position in space: it should be placed in the foreground or background, or be between other objects.

Bring forward

To move a shape one level forward relative to another object, select it and do one of the following:

On the Home tab, in the Arrange group, click move_forward Bring forward or click the arrow to the right of the move_forward Bring forward button and select Bring forward from the drop-down list.

Right-click the shape to open the the context menu and select Bring forward.

When working in macOS, run the Format > Arrange > Bring forward command from the command menu.

Press Ctrl+] in English keyboard layout (Windows, Linux) or alt Option+shift Shift+command Cmd+F (macOS).

To bring the shape on top of other objects, select it and do one of the following:

On the Home tab, in the Arrange group, click the arrow to the right of the move_forward Bring forward button. In the drop-down list, select Bring to front.

Right-click the shape to open the the context menu and select Bring to front.

When working in macOS, run the Format > Arrange > Bring to front command from the command menu.

Press Ctrl+Shift+] in English keyboard layout (Windows, Linux) or shift Shift+command Cmd+F (macOS).

Send backward

To move a shape one level backwards relative to another object, select it and do one of the following:

On the Home tab, in the Arrange group, click move_back Send backward or click the arrow to the right of the move_back Send backward button and select Send backward from the drop-down list.

Right-click the shape to open the the context menu and select Send backward.

When working in macOS, run the Format > Arrange > Send backward command from the command menu.

Press Ctrl+[ in English keyboard layout (Windows, Linux) or alt Option+shift Shift+command Cmd+B (macOS).

To place the shape behind the other objects, select it and do one of the following:

On the Home tab, in the Arrange group, click the arrow to the right of the move_back Send backward button. In the drop-down list, select Send to back.

Right-click the shape to open the the context menu and select Send to back.

When working in macOS, run the Format > Arrange > Send to back command from the command menu.

Press Ctrl+Shift+[ in English keyboard layout (Windows, Linux) or shift Shift+command Cmd+B (macOS).
