Select the print area

You can print:

The selected part of a document.

The entire document or its individual pages.

To print the selection, do the following:

1.Select the desired text.

2.Right-click to open the context menu and run the Print selection command.

To print the entire document or its individual pages, do the following:

Click the basic_menu button and run the Print command from the main menu.

When working in macOS, run File > Print command from the command menu.

Press Ctrl+P (Windows, Linux) or command Cmd+P (macOS).

The Print settings window opens, where you can see how the document will be printed and define the print settings.

Printing with presets

The Print settings window contains:

Document preview area

Print settings area

The document preview area contains the following buttons:

print_dialog_zoom_out and print_dialog_zoom_in: Zoom in or out the page in the preview area.

Fit to window: Fit the page into the preview area.

print_dialog_previous_page and print_dialog_next_page: Go to the previous or next page of the document.

The zoom set in the preview area does not affect the print borders. The zoom tools are intended only for detailed viewing of the document content.

In the print settings area, you can set the options listed in the table.

Printer settings

Printer

Select a printer to print the document.

Printer properties

This option is only available in Windows. Clicking opens the printer properties dialog box. The type and contents of the dialog box options depend on the printer model selected in the box above. The settings specified in the Printer properties dialog box are automatically transferred to the appropriate boxes in the Print settings dialog box.

Print in grayscale

Print the color text and images contained in the document in grayscale.

Page setup

Copies

The number of copies of the document to be printed.

Collated /
Uncollated

The option is available when the number of copies is more than one. You can set the order of page grouping during the printing:

Collated: Pages are grouped by the copies (1,2,3 1,2,3 1,2,3).

Uncollated: Pages are grouped by the number of the pages (1,1,1 2,2,2 3,3,3).

Print area

Document print area:

Entire document: Print the whole document.

Current page: Print the page of the document that is currently displayed on the screen.

Selection: This option is available if a text fragment is selected in the current document.

Pages: Print the selected pages. Required page numbers and/or page ranges are listed in the box below.

Pages may be specified as:

Individual page numbers. For example, 5, 10, 12.

The page ranges indicated using the hyphen “-”. For example, 1-8, 10-11.

Pages from the beginning of the document to the specified page in the -<No.> format. For example, if you type -3, pages 1-3 will be printed.

Pages from the specified page to the end of the document in the <No.>- format. For example, if you type 3-, and the document consists of 6 pages, then pages 3-6 will be printed.

Range

Select the range of pages to be printed. The box is available if Entire document is selected in the Print area box. The following options are available:

All pages: Print all the pages of the document.

Odd pages only, Even pages only: These options are for manual double-sided printing of a document on a printer that does not support this type of printing in automatic mode. To print, you need to select odd-numbered pages first, then turn the stack of sheets backwards and select to print even-numbered pages.

Duplex printing

Duplex printing:

None: Print on only one side of the page.

Long-edge binding: Print on both sides of a sheet of paper where paper flips along the long edge.

Short-edge binding: Print on both sides of a sheet of paper where paper flips along the short edge.

Settings that are not supported by the printer are not available in the Print settings dialog box.

To print the document, click Print.

Quick print

You can print a document in one action, without invoking the Print settings window.

The following settings are used for quick print:

Default print settings.

The last printer used. If you have not used any device, the printer specified in the system settings is selected.

To quickly print the document, do one of the following:

On the Home tab, in the File group, click t_file_print Quick print.

On the Home tab, in the File group, click the arrow to the right of the t_file_print Quick print button and select Quick print command from the drop-down list.
