Interface descriptions and interface procedures use the notations described below.
Boldface type
Boldface type indicates the names of interface elements or sections and the values to be selected or entered, for example:
–Main Menu > View > Layout > Folder Pane.
> sign
The > sign indicates the sequence in which items or menu items are selected, for example:
–From the Main Menu, select Message > New Message.
Ordered list
An ordered list with a number (1, 2, 3 ...) in front of the text in a list item indicates the sequence of steps in a procedure.
An ordered list with a letter (a, b, c ...) in front of the text in a list item indicates the sequence in which the actions of a step in a procedure are to be performed.
Example:
1.Click the Attach button. A system file selection window will open.
2.Add files by following the steps:
a.In the system window, select one or more files.
b.Click Open.
Bulleted list
A bulleted list with a dash (-) or dot (·) before the text in a list item indicates:
–a list of application or component features;
–a list of parameters or interface elements;
–ways to execute a procedure.
Example:
–In the Message List, do one of the following:
•From the message context menu, select Delete.
•Click Del.
–In the Message View Area, click Delete.
